Daybreak Director Judging at Slemani Film Festival

Daybreak director Rhys Graham was honoured to be invited to the Slemani International Film Festival in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, as a judge for the international competition.

The jury members also included directors Carolyn MacDonald (US), Ghassan Abdullah (Syria), Kazım Öz (Turkey),as well as Indian film critic Premendra Mazumder.

Among the awarded prizes, the Jury special award was given to “Shoplifters” from Japan directed by Hirokazu Kore’eda; best film was awarded to “3 Faces” from Iran by Jafar Panahi, feature director went to Majid Majidi from Iran and the Jury award for top actor to Navid Mohammadzadeh for his role in “No Date No Signature” form Iran, and the Jury award for top actress to Shuna Iijima in “Bad Poetry Tokyo”, directed by Anshul Chauhan from Japan.
