Born in Penang and raised in Canberra, Rhys Graham is a Melbourne based filmmaker and writer whose work traverses drama and documentary. His recent films include two feature documentaries co-directed with Natasha Gadd, murundak - Songs of Freedom and Words from the City - which was nominated for five AFI Awards. He is also the director of a number of short dramas and documentaries including Love This Time - recipient of a Special Jury Mention at the 2006 Berlin Film Festival - Charm, Firestorm and Skin - which was awarded Best Documentary at the Worldwide Short Film Festival.

Rhys has also worked across a number of moving image forms. His film installations have been exhibited in Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Gertrude Contemporary Art Space and the Asia Pacific Triennial, and he is co-author of the book Short Site: Recent Australian Short Film published by ACMI Press.

Rhys is in development on the feature drama 'Argentina', co-written with Christos Tsiolkas and Spiro Economopoulos, 'The Warmth' (as writer/director) and is currently financing the Film Victoria & AFC Indivision supported feature drama Galore .
